Named after the silver ions (Ag+) used in our propriatory technology, AgPlus Diagnostics (Formerly ‘Argento Diagnostics’) was born out of the National Physical Laboratory (NPL). The UK’s National Measurement Institute and one of the world’s leading science and research facilities for developing and applying the most accurate standards in science and technology available.
The AgPlus journey started in 2006: When the technology and underlying science behind the device were developed by Rob Porter, over a three-year Strategic Research Fellowship with NPL.
This lead to identifying several problems within the diagnostic Point of Care market. Generally speaking (aside from diabetics products) for the past two decades Point of Care products have been limited to:
- Simple, single parameter tests.
- Limited accuracy.
- Bulky devices which are laboratory based and require mains power.
- Long processes which take several days to complete.
With these problems in mind AgPlus have has set a goal to solve these issues by creating a device that provides:
- Multi-plexed technology for multiple results from one sample.
- Increased accuracy and reliability.
- True portability in a hand held device.
- Real-time, rapid results in less than ten minutes.
In addition, the AgPlus end product specification offers a number of add-on options including WiFi enablement, enhanced memory and battery life.
